Kate Doi

Height: 5'5''
Location: Tokyo, (Willing to fly anywhere)

Kate was born in Minnesota to her mother a Documentary Film translator of Japanese decent and her American father. At the age of four her parents divorced. Kate was taken to live in Tokyo with her mother. Here she was raised by her mother and her Japanese grandparents. Her grandfather was a owner of a book publisher.

At the age of 19, upon obtaining a degree college in performing arts, Kate began her acting career. She caught the attention of the late and legendary Japanese theatre director Yukio Ninagawa ( about Ninagawa: Article from The New York Times , Article from The Telegraph , Article from The Guardian). Under his tutelage, she went on to join one of Japan’s most prestigious theatre companies. She would go on to pursuing her career full time, attaining an impressive list of credits in both minor and major Japanese theatre productions. She performed in art festivals at locations all around the globe, the most notable being the Lincoln Center Festival in NYC, and the Barbican Center Festival in London.

She’s  been working with most amazing directors around the world, like David Leveaux 5 times Tony Award nominated director, Michael Mayer who won the Tony Award several times and Richard Twyman who was previously Associate Director (International) at the Royal Court Theatre.

After sometime she decided to go back to school, attending the Lee Strasberg Film institute in NYC. Here she hoped to sharpen her acting chops and further her knowledge stage and screen production. Upon returning to Tokyo, she appeared in several Japanese TV dramas while simultaneously continuing to push her career in her true love, the theater.
